Image of St Mary's Interior c.1896
An interesting photograph when compared to the present day and to the 3 photographs in AH.0542. The main distinguishing features are:
- No boiler or chimney by the Forster Chapel
- No aisle carpet and floor vents … possibly for a new heating system?
- East Wall has not yet been painted with “Christ in Majesty” by Philip Harry Newman.
This all leads to a conclusion that the photo is from around 1896-1898
