{Lady Pepperell-Congreve picture}
Lady Pepperell-Congreve in the old manor before present structure was built. Notice the old stairway parts and stained glass… Appears elements from old manor were used in current version. This painting hangs in my home. It is lifesize and loved by me. An inspiration.
{Major Congreve picture}
This is Major Congreve and is hung close by the other painting. These are probably unknown to most folks and currently in NH, USA. Please feel free to share these images for non-commercial purposes.
The lifesized has plate says Copley, but previous owner reportedly had it authenticated by Yale University and it is unsigned. My assumption is it was done in his style, by perhaps his direction and perhaps not completely his work.
We once owned Lady Pepperell House ***A*** built in 1760 in which they hung. We sold that house and new owners declined to purchase them with the house. The pictures hang in reproduction Georgian in ***B*** which I built in 2001.
***A*** and ***B*** are addresses redacted on the public view for reasons of privacy
