Aldermaston Fair Cancelled

For many years there was a Fair in The Street in Aldermaston and it is said that the width of The Street was made to accomodate the Fair.

There are three annual fairs at Aldermaston, May 6, July 7 and Oct 11.

A search on Google finds an extract from the book “Sporting Almanack and Oracle of Rural Life” that states that in 1842 the Aldermaston Fair was held on Friday the 8th July.

Fair Abolished

The Fair was cancelled under the Fairs Act of 1871 on 13th March 1873.
