Charles Keyser restored the 12th Century Church at Aldermaston from 1896-1902 using his friends from the Society of Antiquarians: Edward Doran Webb, architect and Philip Harry Newman, artist.

Many thanks for taking the trouble to contact us and clarify that point; the article has now been altered with the description ‘close friend’.

If you are able to add any futher information at all, either by way of text or photographs, we would be delighted to receive it.

  • I am sure that Sister Agnes was not a ‘mistress’ of Edward VII.
They were certainly great friends but the relationship did not go further than that. This was confirmed by my grandmother, Dorothy Keyser/ West.
