The Gay family of Rag Hill
Photographs of John Gay and James Gay as well as their mother, Mary (my great great grandmother).
They resided at Rag Hill, Aldermaston
Mary is buried with husband John in Aldermaston churchyard near the lychgate. They had seven children but the middle one, Harriet, died aged 8 months and is buried next to the path leading to the church from the lychgate.
One of the girls was Elizabeth, my great grandmother. Her husband, Edgar Briggs, worked for Huntley and Palmers in Reading.
John and James died in the Great War and whose names are remembered out each year at the annual Remembrance Day Service at St Mary’s, Aldermaston.
The links on their names above are to their stories compiled by David Whithorn as part of his research into all the fallen men from Aldermaston.
