One of Bill Cox’s many contributions to the local community was the series of sketches he produced of local buildings and views- which he then published on the front cover of the Parish Magazine which he edited for many years. Thanks to Peter Oldridge, Rosemary Campbell and Jean Chapman we present below 59 images, mostly magazine front covers and the majority by Bill Cox. Many sketches depict local buildings or views. Almost all of the buildings still stand. The authors of some of the sketches, including the Centenary graphic, are not yet known but a sketch by Mike Nethersole of the Aldermaston Pottery is featured near the end, in May 1993.
Needless to say, if anyone has other copies of the Parish Magazine bearing Bill Cox’s or another’s artwork which are not included below, we’d be delighted to borrow and scan them in to preserve them too!
The images are presented in order of the date of the magazine. An index of the subjects follows
