Aldermaston Court was being promoted in the 1960’s as ‘A Complete Service for Residential Training Functions’ as detailed in the brochure below, kindly made available by Mr B Cleaver, whose grandfather’s company bought the Court in the mid 1960’s. The company was mainly involved in offering correspondence courses, but promoted Aldermaston Court as a residential training venue.
Accompanying the brochure is an invitation from Lord Milner of Leeds and the directors of the Cleaver-Hume Group to the official opening on 23 September 1966 of the ‘Aldermaston Court Centre for Adult Education’ by the Chairman of the Engineering Training Board, Sir Arnold Lindley. Apart from the offer of a buffet lunch, the invitation also offered a ‘Special Rail Coach to and from Paddington available’.
