Merlin Reactor, Aldermaston

This is a new reactor for the research laboratory at Aldermaston Court in Berkshire. Prince Philip had come to see the magic of the modern Merlin, and, with Lord Chandos and Dr Salmon, he examined a core head. His Royal Highness then unveiled a plaque recording the occasion.

The Merlin Reactor, built by A.E.I. Ltd operated from 1959 to 1962.
